About this animal

The Painted Turtle (Chrysemys picta) is North America's most widespread native turtle. True to its name, it features vivid red and yellow markings along the shell margins and neck. Active and alert, painted turtles are engaging to observe and relatively straightforward to keep. They prefer shallow aquatic setups with abundant basking opportunities and UVB access.
